Seventeenth-century England is the setting for this swashbuckling romance on the high seas, based on the novel by Daphne Du Maurier, about a noblewoman (Joan Fontaine), fed up with a failing marriage, who falls in love with a charismatic French pirate. She has to deal not only with her new love's occupation, but also his best friend, who is quite the backstabber. Arturo de Córdova, Basil Rathbone, and Nigel Bruce star. 112 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
