Lethal Weapon (1987)
Seminal "buddy" actioner that spawned several sequels stars Danny Glover as Roger Murtaugh, a veteran L.A. detective who is less than pleased with new partner Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson), a gung-ho wildman whose memories of Vietnam and his wife’s death are edging him ever closer to psychosis. Can the mismatched pair bring down a heroin ring? With Gary Busey, Mitchell Ryan, Darlene Love; Richard Donner directs. Director’s cut; 111 min. C/Rtg: NR
Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)
Over-the-edge L.A. cop Det. Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) and reluctant partner Det. Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) are back, this time taking on a drug operation, backed by South African diplomats whom the law can't touch, while at the same time "babysitting" obnoxious government witness Leo Getz (Joe Pesci). With Patsy Kensit, Derrick O'Connor, Joss Ackland, Darlene Love; Richard Donner directs. Director’s cut; 118 min. C/Rtg: NR
Lethal Weapon 3 (1992)
Third entry in the hit series has Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) counting the days until his retirement from the L.A.P.D., but with manic Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) as his partner and a stolen weapons ring to bust, it’s anybody’s guess if he’ll live to collect his first pension check! Good friend Leo Getz (Joe Pesci) returns to pester the guys once again, and Internal Affairs Sergeant Lorna Cole (Rene Russo) is a tough cookie who attracts Martin’s eye. Director’s cut; 121 min. C/Rtg: NR
Lethal Weapon 4 (1998)
It’s been six years since the last "Lethal Weapon" outing, and now Danny Glover’s Murtaugh is about to become a grandfather and Mel Gibson’s Riggs has settled down with fellow cop Rene Russo. But when trouble comes in the form of Chinese gangsters involved with counterfeiting and immigrant smuggling, the dynamic duo come to the rescue. With Chris Rock, Joe Pesci and Hong Kong action great Jet Li, in his American debut. 127 min. C/Rtg: R
