Alan Ladd stars as famed American frontiersman Jim Bowie in this involving western biopic. Traveling to New Orleans to sell a lumber supply, Bowie falls for the beautiful and upper crust Judalon de Bornay (Virginia Mayo). Bowie tries to reinvent himself as a member of Southern high society in an effort to win his beloved's heart, finding time along the way to craft the knife that would bear his name.
