Upstate New York, 1906: Crackpot inventor Andrew Hobbs (Woody Allen) and spouse Adrian (Mary Steenburgen) opened their country home as a weekend retreat to Adrian's pretentious academic cousin Leopold (Jose Ferrer) and his much-younger fiancée Ariel (Mia Farrow).
