Setting the tone for all sci-fi films that followed, Georges Méliès' "A Trip to the Moon" followed a band of explorers who are shot by cannon to the lunar surface, where they find waterfalls, giant mushrooms, and hostile natives. Along with a restored version of the silent short in its original hand-colored form, this collection also includes the French-made documentary "The Extraordinary Voyage," which details the 12-year restoration process, and the bonus Méliès shorts "The Eclipse: Courtship of the Sun and Moon" (1907) and "The Astronomer's Dream" (1898). 150 min. total. Standard; Soundtrack: French; Subtitles: English. In French with English subtitles. Two-disc set.
