In early 1960s Johannesburg, carefree childhood came to an abrupt end for 13-year-old Molly Roth (Jodhi May) when her journalist father Gus (Jeroen Krabbe) fled into political exile. As her mother Diana (Barbara Hershey) continued unbowed in her anti-apartheid activism, her commitment would divide her from a sheltered daughter too young to understand. Acclaimed directing bow for cinematographer Chris Menges co-stars Linda Mvusi, Tim Roth, Paul Freeman, David Suchet. 113 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; featurette; theatrical trailer.
