Also known as "Black Sheep Squadron," this 1976-78 NBC series chronicled the adventures of the U.S. Marine fighter pilots of Attack Squadron 214 stationed on a South Pacific island during the Solomon Islands and Bougainville campaigns. Robert Conrad was squadron leader Major Gregory "Pappy" Boyington, a real-life flyer whose book served as the show's inspiration. Dana Elcar, Dirk Blocker, Robert Ginty, Simon Oakland, John Larroquette, Larry Manetti, W.K. Stratton also starred.
