Behind The Door (1919)
Determined to prove his patriotism, German-American Oscar Krug (Hobart Bosworth) enlists in the Navy at the onset of WWI...and his fiancée Alice (Jane Novak) poses as a Red Cross nurse to join him on board. Fate left them the only survivors of a U-boat attack...and the sub’s depraved commander (Wallace Beery) took her alone aboard, to his crew’s suspect mercies. Will an obsessed Krug survive...and ultimately have his chance for vengeance? Intense, long-thought-lost effort co-stars Gibson Gowland, Otto Hoffman. 70 min. Silent with music score. BW/Rtg: NR
Below The Surface (1920)
After father and son deep sea divers Martin and Paul Flint (Hobart Bosworth, Lloyd Hughes) pull off a heroic submarine rescue, they're approached by con artist James Arnold (George Webb), who wants their participation in a bogus treasure recovery scheme. While the elder Flint would have none of it, the younger might not be able to resist when he's seduced by Arnold's honeypot colleague Edna (Grace Darmond). Memorable silent melodrama also stars Gladys George, Edith Yorke. 91 min. Silent with music score. BW/Rtg: NR
