As "Happy Gilmore" (1996), the doofus hockey player discovers his slap shot skills translate to 400-yards golf shots, he sets out to save his grandmother’s house from foreclosure by joining the PGA tour. Along the way, Happy is tutored by one-handed ex-pro Chubbs Peterson (Carl Weathers), angers rival duffer Shooter McGavin (Christopher McDonald), falls for publicist Virginia (Julie Bowen), and has a memorable on-the-links brawl with Bob Barker (playing himself). Then, in the rib-tickling comedy "Billy Madison" (1995), "Saturday Night Live’s" Adam Sandler plays the title character, the moronic, goof-off son of a motel magnate who sets out to prove he’s worthy of taking over the family business by going back to school and legitimately passing grades 1 through 12 in six months. Bridgette Wilson, Norm Macdonald, and Darren McGavin co-star. 182 min. on two discs. Standard; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1, French Dolby Digital stereo, Spanish Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles: French, Spanish; audio commentary; alternate ending; deleted scenes; outtakes.
