In the 1950s, with job prospects bleak in her native Ireland, young Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) is packed off by her folks across the ocean for a clerking opportunity in New York. She tentatively comes to deal with her homesickness, a new land, and the kind attentions of Italian-American plumber Tony (Emory Cohen)--but when a family tragedy requires Eilis to return home, she’s faced with wrenching choices between her old life and the one she has built. Evocative coming-of-age tale also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent; Nick Hornby adapted the Colm Tóibín novel for the screen. 111 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, DVS 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles: English (SDH), Spanish; audio commentary; featurettes; photo gallery.
