On a wintry day at a rigid boys' boarding school in the mountains of eastern Turkey, Kurdish youngster Yusuf (Samet Yildiz) grew concerned about how best friend Memo (Nurullah Alaca) had quickly taken ill. His pleas for help were met with indifference and buck-passing from teachers and administrators--even as the situation's gravity became readily apparent.
