Mobster Tommy Gordon (John Garfield) goes to Sing Sing with the understanding his political connections will guarantee a quick parole. As a prompt release seems less and less likely, Gordon resigns himself to life behind bars and tries to go straight. But after the warden (Pat O’Brien) grants him a temporary pass to visit his injured girlfriend (Ann Sheridan), Gordon is tempted back into a life of crime when he encounters the man who got him locked up. Burgess Meredith, Henry O’Neill co-star. 77 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
