Comprehensive three-disc set utilizes dramatic re-creations to examine the literary giant's fascinating life and the profound effect it had on his work. "Uncovering the Real Dickens" blends documentary footage and dramatization to paint a telling portrait of the author. "A Christmas Carol" (1996) finds Dickens (Anton Lesser) hosting a private one-man reading of the classic holiday tale in his home. "Songs from Grope Lane" follows a young and rebellious Dickens and his desire to break away from his dreary life. Also includes "David Copperfield" (1999), starring Ian McKellen and Daniel Radcliffe. 8 hrs. total. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital stereo; featurette.
