Chicago Symphony Orchestra: Historic Telecasts: Fritz Reiner / Leopold Stokowski / Paul Hindemith
Three spirited concerts, each helmed by an accomplished conductor. First, Reiner conducts Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 and "Egmont" Overture, and Handel's Arrival of the Queen of Sheba from "Solomon." Next, Stokowski leads the orchestra in performances of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, Brahms' Variations on a Theme by Haydn, and Rimsky-Korsakov's "Capriccio Espagnol." Finally, Hindemith's appearance includes the "Academic Festival" overture by Brahms, Bruckner's Symphony No. 7, and Hindemith's own Concert Music for Strings and Brass. 141 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English mono.
