Roving cowboy Bob Baker witnesses a gundown involving a crooning cowpoke and a U.S. marshal in "The Singing Outlaw" (1937). When the lawman dies, Baker takes his identity and finds himself in all sorts of predicaments, from trying to stop cattle rustlers to romancing a rancher's daughter. Then, "Border Wolves" (1938) stars Baker as an innocent accused of leading an attack on a covered wagon, then trying to clear his name by finding the real culprits.
