It Happened One Night (1934)
A spoiled heiress (Claudette Colbert) fleeing her dad’s tough-love efforts to have her impulsive marriage annulled. An intemperate reporter (Clark Gable) looking for a career-salvaging scoop. A misadventurous road trip that takes them up the East Coast and into each other’s arms propels Frank Capra’s seminal screwball charmer that became a sleeper hit and netted the five major Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
