Nicky & The Warriors kicked off 2023 with the nationwide release of their new CD 'The Cold Metal Gun' with DVD in January. The sound boldly incorporates synth loops. The content is dark but also pop. Blondie, who played at CBGB, a live house and punk mecca in New York, surprised the world with their 1979 release of 'Heart of Glass,' and the product that dares to challenge it in 2023 has attracted attention.
Speaking of which, the previous album 'Tokyo Dolls' was also driven by Nicky's love for the original punks such as the New York Dolls and Johnny Thunders. And the band's first Christmas song was well received, as it felt like an homage to the 1970s Pistols.
With that momentum, they participated in THE STAR CLUB's Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka tour in February. Then on May 27th, they will have a two-man live with Far East Pharos Kicker. Nicky and Chuya perform live as a unit called 'Venus & Zeus' with CROSS on guitar, and the two unique vocalists must have felt something that attracted them to each other when they performed together. The production of a new song with Chuya was a natural progression.
The new song 'Cosmic Love' written by CROSS was restructured several times to adjust to the vocals of the two, and a guitar solo part was added at Chuya's request. Recording was completed in April for this one song, and it was decided that instead of a CDR, a CD would be pressed at a factory and distributed free of charge to attendees on the day of the live on May 27th.
This DVD contains all the songs from that day's live performance. Starting with Velvet Lips composed by Hideki Sakakibara, and including songs by the original Warriors from the 1980s, you will be able to see Nicky & The Warriors in May 2023.
