Crucible Of Terror (1971)
Occult-obsessed sculptor Victor Clare (Mike Raven) crafts a work of horror when he creates a bronze statue of a beautiful young woman. But he didn’t use a model...instead, he encased the poor victim in plaster and poured molten metal through an eyehole! When the piece sells for big bucks, the cold-blooded chiseler tries it again...but meets his fate from his first victim’s vengeful spirit. Mary Maude, James Bolam, Ronald Lacey co-star; directed by Ted Hooker. 90 min. C/Rtg: NR
Penny Gold (1973)
Dogged Scotland Yard Inspector Matthews (James Booth) was put on the case when a boutique owner (Francesca Annis) was found bludgeoned beyond recognition in her flat. The trail would find him trying to make some connection between the crime, the victim's philatelist twin sister (Annis, again) and a rare-stamp con scheme. Sturdy mystery directed by Jack Cardiff co-stars Nicky Henson, Joss Ackland, Sue Lloyd, Una Stubbs. 87 min. C/Rtg: NR
Craze (1974)
Of all the items in his shop, antiquities dealer Neal Bottram (Jack Palance) prized an idol of an African god above all else. So much so, in fact, that he regularly lured unsuspecting women to the store to serve as ritual blood sacrifices. Creepy scarefest helmed by Freddie Francis also stars Trevor Howard, Edith Evans, Hugh Griffith, Diana Dors, Suzy Kendall, Julie Ege. 96 min. C/Rtg: R
Widescreen; Soundtrack: English; Subtitles: English (SDH); audio commentary; featurettes.
