Gallic stage star Pierre Magnier reprised his acclaimed title performance in this second-ever screen adaptation of the Rostand play, portraying the 17th-century nobleman/warrior/poet whose self-consciousness about his prominent nose leads him to use the handsome but tongue-tied soldier Christian (Angelo Ferrari) as his vehicle for expressing his true feelings for the fair Roxanne (Linda Moglia). The restored print of this French-Italian production includes hand-painted and tinted Pathécolor sequences. 114 min. Standard; Soundtrack: stereo music score. Silent with music score.
