Based on the novels by Andrea Camilleri, this Italian mystery series (called "Inspector Montalbano" in its home country) debuted in 1999. Luca Zingaretti stars as Salvo Montalbano, the head of the police department in the fictional Sicilian town of Vigàta, who tackles one baffling crime after another while confronting his own personal demons. Cesare Bocci, Peppino Mazotta, Angelo Russo also star.
Montalbano’s vacation is cut short when he’s called in to investigate the murder of a 70-year-old prostitute and allegations of child molestation at a school, in "A Delicate Matter." And, the discovery of a dead body on a construction site kicks off a case involving corruption and organized crime, in "The Mud Pyramid." Also includes the 2016 documentary "Montalbano and Me: Andrea Camilleri." 4 1/2 hrs. total on three discs. Widescreen; Soundtrack: Italian; Subtitles: English. In Italian with English subtitles.
