Based on the novels by Andrea Camilleri, this Italian mystery series (called "Inspector Montalbano" in its home country) debuted in 1999. Luca Zingaretti stars as Salvo Montalbano, the head of the police department in the fictional Sicilian town of Vigàta, who tackles one baffling crime after another while confronting his own personal demons. Cesare Bocci, Peppino Mazotta, Angelo Russo also star.

In "The Mystery of the Terracotta Dog," Montalbano’s search for a stash of weapons opens up an investigation into a crime dating back to the 1940s. Next, two seemingly unrelated cases may be unexpectedly connected, in "A Trip to Tindari." And finally, the an apparent suicide, a forged will, and two brothers in love with the same woman make for a particularly perplexing case, in "The Artist’s Touch." 5 1/4 hrs. total on three discs.
