Rocketship X-M (1950)
One of the first serious cinematic depictions of space travel, this sci-fi thriller follows the four-man, one-woman crew of Rocketship X-M ("Expedition Moon") as they’re thrown off their lunar trajectory and wind up on the planet Mars. They find evidence that an ancient civilization once thrived...and learned that its atavistic descendants don't like company. Lloyd Bridges, Osa Massen, Hugh O’Brian, Noah Beery, Jr. star. 77 min. BW/Rtg: NR
The Brain From Planet Arous (1958)
Earth is the battleground for two dueling aliens in this campy classic of ’50s sci-fi. Second-string film legend John Agar stars as Steve March, a scientist possessed by evil alien Gor, who is now able to blow up planes with his stare. Girding for a fight, Gor's good guy adversary, Vol, takes over the body of...Steve's fiancée's dog. It's man vs. man's best friend! Joyce Meadows, Robert Fuller, Thomas Browne Henry co-star. 71 min. BW/Rtg: NR
The Hideous Sun Demon (1959)
The werewolf milieu gets a solar spin in this classic drive-in sci-fi thriller. Hospitalized after an intense radiation exposure, scientist Gil McKenna (Robert Clarke, who directed) seemed to have no ill effects...at first. However, any exposure to the rays of the sun will now turn him into a fanged, reptilian--and murderous--creature. With Patricia Manning, Nan Peterson. 75 min. BW/Rtg: NR
