In 1964, young Eileen Dunlop (Thomasin McKenzie) was resigned to a dreary life as a secretary for a Boston-area juvie detention center. She thought she had found a transformative friendship with Rebecca St. John (Anne Hathaway), the facility's lovely and poised new staff psychiatrist--but Rebecca may prove to have an unnerving agenda all her own. Distinctive drama-thriller also stars Shea Whigham, Sam Nivola, Marin Ireland, Owen Teague; Ottessa Moshfegh co-adapted her novel for the screen. 96 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English.
