Life With Father (1947)
Beloved comedy, set in the early 20th century, chronicles the misadventures of New York City’s Day family. William Powell stars as patriarch Clarence Day, a stern but fair stockbroker who believes he’s the head of the family until his four sons begin to do their own thing and he slowly starts to realize just how much his devoted, long-suffering wife (Irene Dunne) really does. With Elizabeth Taylor, Jimmy Lydon, Martin Miller. 118 min. C/Rtg: NR
Father's Little Dividend (1951)
Spencer Tracy, Elizabeth Taylor, Don Taylor, and Joan Bennett reprise their roles in this delightful sequel to "Father of the Bride," with the imminent arrival of a grandchild making Stanley (Tracy) much more nervous than mother-to-be Kay (Taylor). More warm-hearted comedy ensues, as Stanley frets over the expenses and complications involved with a new child...and his vexations that his new grandson doesn’t even seem to like him! Vincente Minnelli directs; Russ Tamblyn, Billie Burke co-star. 81 min. BW/Rtg: NR
The Last Time I Saw Paris (1954)
Loosely based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s story "Babylon Revisited," Richard Brooks’ classic romantic drama set in post-WWII Europe follows journalist Charles Wills (Van Johnson) as he is kissed by a beautiful stranger (Elizabeth Taylor) while covering the end-of-war celebrations. A whirlwind romance ensues, and after the pair wed they find their lives growing apart--resulting in tragedy. With Walter Pidgeon, Donna Reed, Eva Gabor. 116 min. C/Rtg: NR
