Grand gripper set in turn-of-the-20th-century London concerns the beautiful Allida Bederaux (Hedy Lamarr), a woman whose jealous husband, Nick (Paul Lukas), treats her like a captive in their townhome. As Allida becomes increasingly frightened for her safety and that of her stepson, she turns to a psychiatrist (George Brent) for help. But when the obsessed doc takes it upon himself to free her, he faces off against Nick...and nothing is as it appears. With Albert Dekker; Jacques Tourneur directs. 85 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
