Actress Annie Fang (Nicole Kidman) and her novelist brother Baxter (Jason Bateman, who directed) show all the emotional scarring you’d expect from an upbringing by performance artist parents (Christopher Walken, Maryann Plunkett) who treated them more like props than their kids. On the news that their folks have gone missing, the siblings--half-certain it’s another one of their elaborate put-ons--head home to investigate for themselves, and have some sobering self-realizations along the way. Darkly funny take on the Kevin Wilson novel co-stars Kathryn Hahn, Jason Butler Harner, Josh Pais. 106 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital stereo.
