In Paris' seamy Pigalle district, barmaid Anita (Juliet Berto, who co-directed) was maternally protective of teenage pusher Bobby. Once he died during a run-in with the cops, however, she tried to make sure that his painfully addicted clientele continued to score...with the results being personally disastrous for her. "Neige (Snow)" (1981) also stars Jean-François Stévenin, Paul Le Person. Then, disgraced ex-cop/ex-con Lucien (Richard Berry) took a PI job shadowing Sentier couturière Edith (Isabelle Huppert), suspected of making high fashion knock-offs. He stunningly discovers that she's the same woman responsible for his ruin, in Christine Pascal's "The Bitch (La Garce)" (1984); Vittorio Mezzogiorno, Jean Benguigui co-star. 179 min. total on two discs. Widescreen; Sountrack: French; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; image galleries. In French with English subtitles.
