In February 1970, Green Beret medical officer Jeffrey MacDonald (Gary Cole) was found wounded in his Fort Bragg apartment--and blamed intruders for the assault that claimed his wife and daughters. While he was exonerated by the Army for lack of evidence, his father-in-law Fred Kassab (Karl Malden) found himself questioning MacDonald's story...to the point where he mounted his own crusade to reopen the case.
