Detective Story (1951)
Based on the Broadway play by Sidney Kingsley, director William Wyler’s influential crime drama details a day in the life of a New York City police precinct led by hard-nosed detective Jim McLeod (Kirk Douglas). Neglecting his long-suffering wife (Eleanor Parker) as he attempts to bring an unscrupulous abortion doctor to justice, McLeod’s brutal treatment of the accused leads to a revelation that could jeopardize his marriage and career. Bang The Drum Slowly (1973)
