The French Connection

Five Oscars, including Best Picture, Director, and Actor, were awarded to William Friedkin's fast-moving cop drama based on Robin Moore’s book about a series of drug operations in the 1960s. Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider are New York detectives Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle and Buddy "Cloudy" Russo, who reluctantly work with federal agents to crack a multi-million-dollar heroin ring.
