Rancher Gene Autry comes to the aid of a jockey recovering from an injury and helps him get back in the saddle again, but first must locate the runaway horse his new pal was planning to ride in a race, in "Trail to San Antone" (1947), co-starring Johnny Duncan and Peggy Stewart. It's up to Gene and sidekick Chuckwalla (Pat Buttram) to help a woman whose father is accused of murder in "Riders in the Sky" (1949), with Gloria Henry and Alan Hale, Jr. Autry must salvage his reputation after he's wrongly accused of poisoning cattle by a ring of outlaws (Douglas Dumbrille, Damian O'Flynn, Clayton Moore) who are destroying the timberlands, in "Riders of the Whistling Pines" (1949). And "Saginaw Trail" (1953), Gene's penultimate feature film, finds the hard-ridin' hero in 1820s Michigan Territory, where he defends settlers from renegade Indians. Smiley Burnette and Connie Marshall co-star. 7 1/2 hrs. total on two discs. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
