Gene sets out to save "The Strawberry Roan" (1948), a wild horse that threw a rancher's young son, so that the boy can get back in the saddle and regain his self-confidence. Dick Jones, Pat Buttram, and Champion, as the title steed, co-star. Then, it's Gene Autry times two, portraying both a marshal who corrals a gang of crooks and his son, who must face the same gang years later, in the thrill-packed "Rim of the Canyon" (1949). Nan Leslie, Thurston Hall co-star. When "Barbed Wire" (1952) on the prairie helps fuel a cattleman/homesteader war, it's up to Autry and sidekick Buttram to make peace and haul out the wire cutters of justice. With Anne James. And it's a fraternal frontier fracas when Gene must bring down an outlaw gang that includes his own brother (Richard Crane) in "Winning of the West" (1953), co-starring Gail Davis and Smiley Burnette. 8 hrs. total on two discs. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
