High Noon (1952)
Four Academy Awards, including Gary Cooper’s second Best Actor Oscar, went to director Fred Zinnemann’s landmark western drama. Cooper shines as Will Kane, a recently married frontier marshal on the verge of retirement. But Kane finds he must stand alone when he learns a ruthless outlaw (Ian MacDonald) he once sent to jail is coming to town looking for revenge. Grace Kelly co-stars as Kane’s new Quaker wife; with Lloyd Bridges, Katy Jurado, Thomas Mitchell. 85 min. BW/Rtg: NR
Rear Window (1954)
Confined to a wheelchair after breaking his leg on an assignment, photojournalist L.B. "Jeff" Jefferies’ (James Stewart) "hobby" of spying on his neighbors from his apartment window with a telephoto lens leads him and girlfriend Lisa Fremont (Grace Kelly) to believe that one of his subjects may be a murderer. One of Alfred Hitchcock’s personal favorites, this innovative suspense gem also stars Thelma Ritter and Raymond Burr. 115 min. C/Rtg: PG
The Country Girl (1954)
Grace Kelly won an Oscar for her heartfelt performance as the strong-willed wife of an alcoholic stage actor (Bing Crosby) who’s trying to launch a comeback under the guidance of a devoted director (William Holden). Director George Seaton also won an Academy Award for his adaptation of Clifford Odets’ play. Anthony Ross, Gene Reynolds co-star. 104 min. BW/Rtg: NR
To Catch A Thief (1955)
Cary Grant is John "the Cat" Robie, a suave ex-burglar whose life of ease along the French Riviera is torn asunder when a new string of robberies is committed with his trademark style. Can Robie prove his innocence, or will a beautiful heiress (Grace Kelly) lure him back into a life of crime, in Alfred Hitchcock’s seductively stylish thriller? With John Williams, Brigitte Auber. 106 min. C/Rtg: NR
The Swan (1956)
In the same year she married Prince Rainier of Monaco, Grace Kelly starred as a princess in this sparkling romantic comedy-drama set in the early part of the 20th century. Princess Alexandra (Kelly) is about to be married off by her mother to Prince Albert (Alec Guinness) when she falls instead for her dashing tutor (Louis Jourdan). Agnes Moorehead, Jessie Royce Landis, and Leo G. Carroll co-star in this, the second of three filmings of Ferenc Molnár’s 1920 play. 108 min. C/Rtg: NR
High Society (1956)
Grace Kelly--in her final film--stars in this lively musical remake of "The Philadelphia Story," with Grace (appropriately) as Main Line gal Tracy Lord, who must choose between her ex (Bing Crosby) and her bland fiancé (John Lund). Frank Sinatra, Celeste Holm, and Louis Armstrong co-star; Cole Porter score includes "True Love," "Did You Evah?," "You’re Sensational," and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" 111 min. C/Rtg: NR
