His Girl Friday - A reporter helps a condemned man escape. "His Girl Friday" is even better than the very good original, "Front Page". Howard Hawks and Cary Grant have rarely handled comedy better, and Rosalind Russell gives one of her most memorable performances. Grant stars as Walter Burns, a newspaper editor whose top reporter, Hildy Johnson (Russell), is leaving the paper to get married. Walter wants her to stay in order to cover the impending execution of a convicted murderer, but Hildy refuses, leading to a continuing battle of wits between them. Hanks was always interested in what makes the professional tick. Almost all of his films touched on this theme in one way or another. Molly And Me - Molly (Fields), a poor struggling actress, decides to "play the part" of housekeeper for a wealthy former politician John Graham (Wooley). However Mr Graham is hard to get along with to the point that he has chased his wife and other servants away and alienated his son Jimmy (McDowall).Graham's only ally is the butler Peabody (Gardiner) whom she later discovers is also a former actor. Molly won't take Graham's nonsense, and teaches him about how to treat other people, and reconcile with his son. As the other servant's quit, Molly steadily replaces them with her old theater friends, so that the house soon becomes a former actor refuge! A wonderful screwball comedy, and Gracie Field's last movie appearance.
