A River Runs Through It (1992)
Robert Redford directed this sensitive film adaptation of Norman Maclean’s acclaimed novel about a minister father (Tom Skerritt) who uses fly fishing to relate to his two sons in rural early-20th-century Montana. But as the older Norman (Craig Sheffer) is drawn to literature and other intellectual pursuits, his younger brother Paul (Brad Pitt) becomes a reckless type who is clearly headed for danger. Brenda Blethyn, Emily Lloyd also star in this lyrical drama. 124 min. C/Rtg: PG
