Goodbye Ana Elisa (A.K. a "I Love you Ana Elisa") tells the story of Ana Elisa, a young woman living in a rural Columbian town who's courage to confront her past and the limitations of her underprivileged community pose more a challenge than a threat. She works hard and hopes of becoming a doctor to help heal and save lives. In the meantime, she uses her knowledge in an underground medical clinic where she helps those less fortunate with basic medical care. Her dream is not an easy one and she must deal with a number of obstacles, including her ex-boyfriend Calvo who wants her back at all cost bringing about violence and sorrow in his attempt to regain her love. Displaced from her neighborhood, Ana Elisa finds herself fleeing to seek help from two uncles who she hasn't seen in years and forced to care for her schizophrenic older brother Faber. Ana Elisa's arrival at the city depicts an even harder and hostile reality which turns into a race for survival and an uphill battle to keep her brother safe while maintaining her dignity as a human being.
