By 1971, 27-year-old Judee Sill--ex-con, recovering addict, and emerging and distinctive folk-rock singer-songwriter--had made the cover of Rolling Stone, and cut a debut album that would be Asylum Records' first release. In 1979, knowing critical praise but commercial indifference, and lapsing back into bad habits, she'd succumb to a drug overdose. This documentary portrait shines a light on Sill's troubled life and enduring influence. Linda Ronstadt, David Crosby, Graham Nash, and more speak. 91 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English; Subtitles: English; theatrical trailer.
