After having been raised--and revered as messianic--by a sequestered Texas cult, 9-year-old Alton Meyer (Jaden Lieberher) finds himself spirited off the compound by his birth father Roy (Michael Shannon). As they share a harrowing drive east--with the cultists, as well as federal authorities, in pursuit--Alton’s revealed to in fact possess extraordinary abilities, and Roy shares his reasons for shepherding his son to an uncanny destiny. Moving, humanistic sci-fi chase thriller co-stars Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, and Sam Shepard. 112 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English (SDH), Spanish, French; featurettes.
