Produced at the request of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in an effort to drum up support for the Soviet Union during World War II─and later labeled a pro-communist film─this controversial drama was based on the memoir of Joseph H. Davies, the U.S. ambassador to Russia. Walter Huston stars as Davies, sent to Moscow in the days before the war to determine the Russians' suitability as an ally. Ann Harding, Oskar Homolka also star. 123 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
