Mister Lobo celebrates 20 years of hosting his show Cinema Insomnia. In the tradition of those classic horror shows like Chiller Theatre and Creature Features, host Lobo appears in brief vignettes between segments of the late late night movie. Each episode begins with Mr. Lobo promising to screen a bonafide horror classic, only to have the rug pulled out from under him when he is told that a cheap public domain movie has to be shown instead. Various and sundry wacky characters have appeared over the show's two-decade run - including Lobo's houseplant sidekick, Miss Mittens. There are even satirical commercials, like 'Rad Adams: Skateboard Attorney' and 'Chinzei Knives.' Cinema InsomniaI has been seen on local and cable TV, and Lobo continues to be a regular guest at conventions like Monster Bash and Retro Con. Beloved as an authority on Bad Movies, Mr. Lobo lives by the motto, They're not bad movies just misunderstood. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum mmm! Rum! Mr. Lobo invites you to drop anchor and pour yourself a frosty orange beverage and enjoy this extremely historically inaccurate movie from the supposed Golden Age of Hollywood. Ruthless pirate Captain Kidd (with the aid of a charm tutor) convinces the King of England to let him take a shipload of convicts to Madagascar to recover his lost treasure. In real life, The Notorious K.I.D.D. left his booty on Long Island, but who cares about facts? Anyone unsure of their masculinity should avert their eyes, because not only does this film include Charles Laughton and Randolph Scott, it also has more gaudy jewelry, silk pants, and ruffled shirts than in Prince's Purple Rain. Fortunately, Captain Lobo is on hand to serve up popcorn for a buck aneer as well as classic trailers, poetry readings, vintage commercials, (probably untrue) trivia, and nostalgic drive-in snackbar ads! Thrill to the adventures of these pirates not from the Caribbean in ultra-prissy FANCYVISION!
