NFL America's Game: 1977 Cowboys (Super Bowl Xii)
In 1977, the Dallas Cowboys sent four picks to Seattle in exchange for the second overall choice in the NFL Draft. With that pick, halfback Tony Dorsett, the Cowboys had landed the final piece to their Championship puzzle. Combined with the ingenuity of quarterback Roger Staubach and the leadership of coach Tom Landry, Dallas surged to a 12-2 regular season record. Dorsett provided the break-away speed Dallas coveted in it's backfield, rushing for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns to win Rookie of the Year honors. The Cowboys defense, meanwhile, was a force in the playoffs, holding Walter Paytons Bears and Chuck Foremans Vikings to just 13 points combined en route to Super Bowl XII at the Louisiana Superdome. There, the Dallas D dominated once again against the AFC Champion Broncos, so much so that two players on it's front four shared game MVP honors, a first in Super Bowl history. So join NFL Films as they retell the story of the 77 Cowboys, a perfect blend of coaching, youth and experience. Americas Game uses exclusive interviews from Dorsett, Charlie Waters and Drew Pearson to recount another banner season in Big D.
