In this sensitive comedy/drama directed by Garry Marshall, Juliette Lewis is Carla Tate, a mentally challenged young woman who returns to her parents (Diane Keaton, Tom Skerritt) after spending 10 years in an institution. While attending a vocational college, Carla meets Danny (Giovanni Ribisi), an emotionally handicapped student. The two fall in love and move in together, against the wishes of her mother.
