Retro Horror Triple Feature Volume 1: Bride of Frankenstein / Son of Frankenstein / House of Frankenstein [Import]
Bride Of Frankenstein (1935)
Boris Karloff’s back and Elsa Lanchester’s got him in one of the greatest horror films ever made. Revealed to be very much alive, Dr. Frankenstein (Colin Clive) takes the next step in his quest to unlock the mysteries of immortality when he’s convinced by mad scientist Dr. Pretorius (Ernest Thesiger) to construct a mate (Lanchester) for his brutish creation (Karloff). Valerie Hobson also stars; directed by James Whale. 75 min. BW/Rtg: NR
Son Of Frankenstein (1939)
The third entry in the series stars Basil Rathbone as Wolf von Frankenstein, returning to the ancestral estate with his family to atone for his father’s mistakes. With the aid of crippled shepherd Ygor (Bela Lugosi), he brings the monster (Boris Karloff) back to murderous life. Lionel Atwill, Josephine Hutchinson, Donnie Dunagan co-star. 99 min. BW/Rtg: NR
House Of Frankenstein (1945)
Universal pulled out all the stops for this monster medley that features Boris Karloff as a mad doctor who takes over a travelling sideshow whose main exhibits are the bodies of Dracula (John Carradine) and the Frankenstein Monster (Glenn Strange). Along the way, who should they pick up but the Wolf Man (Lon Chaney, Jr.)! With J. Carrol Naish, Elena Verdugo, Lionel Atwill. 71 min. BW/Rtg: NR
