Czech Jew Vladimir Munk was 20 years old when his incarceration at Auschwitz ended, whereupon he became a noted microbiologist in his homeland until 1968 when he emigrated to America in the wake of the Soviet invasion. At age 95, the retired professor elected to return to the site where his parents and 30 other relatives lost their lives for the 75th anniversary of the camp's liberation.
