In 1967, after a decade abroad, Irish journalist Peter Lennon returned to Ireland to survey the social and political issues of his native country. In his resulting documentary, Lennon─with cinematographer Raoul Coutard─paints a provocative portrait of a populace suffering from rash violence, extreme poverty, heavy censorship, and the corrupt mixing of church and state. 96 min.
