A writer who must complete his latest novel in 24 hours in order to win a bet thinks he's found the perfect place to work in a remote country inn. However, he finds himself caught up in a bizarre scheme of deception, missing money, and murder that outdoes any book's plot. RKO Pictures brought Earl Derr Biggers' lighthearted, oft-filmed whodunit "Seven Keys to Baldpate" to the screen three times, with the 1929 version starring Richard Dix, Miriam Segar, Margaret Livingston, and Lucien Littlefield; the 1935 take with Gene Raymond, Margaret Callahan, Eric Blore, and Grant Mitchell; and the 1947 redo headlined by Phillip Terry, Jacqueline White, Eduardo Ciannelli, and Margaret Lindsay. 3 1/2 hrs. total on two discs. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
