Small Town Bully / Run Girl Run / Manicure Lady / Gymnasium Jim
(1911)
Silent film comedy pioneer Mack Sennett is saluted with four early slapstick shorts. Vivian Prescott is "The Manicure Lady" (1911), who must choose between her barber beau (Sennett) and a wealthy cad (Eddie Dillon); new schoolmarm Mabel Normand faces an unruly classroom that includes Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle in "Small Town Bully" (1915); "Gymnasium Jim" (1922) finds garage owner Billy Bevan getting tricked into climbing into the boxing ring against a pro fighter; and a young Carole Lombard plays a college track star who'd rather sneak out with her boyfriend than train in "Run, Girl, Run" (1928). 77 min. total. Standard; Soundtrack: music score. Plays All Regions. Silent with music score.
