Working-class Stella (Belle Bennett) had her sights on both higher station and a proposal from upper-crust Stephen Dallas (Ronald Colman), arrived in her tank town to escape family disgrace. Having a daughter together, however, wasn't enough to bridge their divide--and the years found the divorced Stella facing a wrenching choice for the happiness of her now-grown child (Lois Moran). First filming of the Olive Higgins Prouty novel co-stars Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Jean Hersholt. 110 min. Standard; Soundtrack: music score. Silent with music score.
