If life does indeed imitate art, then Schenectady theater director Philip Seymour Hoffman may have found a remedy for his stalled career and stale marriage to painter Catherine Keener. Crafting an elaborate stage simulacrum of his world, Hoffman hopes to control the actors playing the people around him. Once again blurring the line between fiction and reality, "Adaptation." screenwriter Charlie Kaufman makes his directorial debut with this surreal seriocomedy. Hope Davis, Samantha Morton, Emily Watson also star. 124 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English.
