Down-on-his-luck composer Victor Florescu (Ramon Novarro) hopes his new operetta will save him, but a bounced check, an exiting orchestra and cast, and a drunken lead actress could lead to disaster. Enter would-be singer Shirley Sheridan (Jeanette MacDonald), who agrees to help Victor avoid jail. Early M-G-M musical based on the Jerome Kern/Otto Harbach play also stars Frank Morgan, Jean Hersholt; songs include "The Night Was Made for Love," "She Didn't Say Yes." 88 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
